The School of Our Lady, Queen of Peace and Reconciliation is a private Montessori school serving adolescents aged 12-18. At this stage of development adolescents require work with their hands as well as their head. With this in mind, we focus on applying principles learned in the classroom to everyday situations on the farm. This includes: using geometry and algebra in putting up buildings, natural science in dealing with plants and animals, history through field trips and experiential study, and English is perfected by engaging texts with reading and writing.
Being as the school is unsupported by the Diocese of Richmond it is technically not a Catholic school, but one formed by lay Catholics under the 1983 Code of Canon Law #215-216. This only means that it is influenced by Catholic principles. The school’s 501c3 nonprofit status has been approved by the IRS.
